Consider me a very lucky lady.
This Thursday I'll be heading BACK to the Prairies provinces (AGAIN), one in particular, to do a few readings in Edmonton, Alberta.
Hilariously, the last time I was Prairie bound I had an Edmonton faux pas when I mistakenly assumed that my plane was landing in Saskatchewan, when in fact we were landing in Edmonton.
I threw my hands up in the air and hollered, "I'm in Saskatchewan!"
"NO you're NOT," the perturbed woman next to me grumbled, "you're in EDMONTON. Don't you know the difference between ALBERTA and SASKATCHEWAN?"
Of course I do. They're completely different shapes! (see above)
Turns out that I had blanked out the reality of the connecting flight I was taking on my way to Regina. It only occurred to me while sitting in the airport in Edmonton that I had essentially overshot my original desitination with my connecting flight.
This, apparently, is a frequent source of grumbling in Regina (lack of direct flights).
Fortunately, Regina has a lot of potash. So it all evens out.
ANYWAY. Long story short I'll be in Edmonton this weekend for the following readings:
Strathcona County Library in Sherwood Park, Saturday April 16, 2- 3 pm.
Writers’ Corner from 1:30-3:00 PM on Sunday April 17 at the Stanley A. Milner (downtown) branch of the Edmonton Public Library.
I figure after my reading on Saturday I'll hoof it over to the West Edmonton Mall. Any shopping suggestions you have will be most welcome.
I will be bringing several books to read, in a desperate effort to catch up with my original new year's promise.
Movie reviews to follow. I'm sure I'll see something amazing on the plane.
