Sleeping Satellite and Other Such Melodies

I'm a bit of a puff ball when it comes to musical taste.

I've always wanted to be more hardcore, to suggest I can rock hard, that in a pinch I'll thrash or whatnot.  But really and truly if you want to elevate my soul you just need to play something cute and uplifting.  And, perhaps not coincidentally, the best/most assured route is to play a song that has some celestial theme.

Last night c and I watched the Tourist, which I shockingly didn't hate, although as soon as I saw the trailer I was kind of dreading watching Angelina Jolie walk around Europe with an accent for 2 hours*.

[*This is actually probably one of the few movies that defies my "date a spy and die" theory - which is maybe a bit of a spoiler but I don't think so (if you watch a movie STARRING Angelina Jolie you pretty much know she's not going to DIE in said movie).]

Anyhoo.

I was completely digging the song during the credits and so googled it later.

It's STARLIGHT by MUSE (video here).

So it's not surprising that I was dancing around because generally I find Muse pretty ass-kicking.  Kind of interesting though because this is now one of many songs on my "celestial songs I love" list, which I thought I'd share, although right after I do I have to get back to work.

So here it is:

Sleeping Satellite by Tasmin Archer
Satellite Mind by Metric
Satellite by Guster
Cosmic Love by Florence + The Machine
Spaceman by The Killers
Star 69 by REM
Soft Rock Star by Metric
Lodestar by Sarah Harmer
White Belly by Belly (on the album, Star)
Across the Universe by The Beatles (a bit of a stretch)
Happy Up Here by Royksopp (also a bit of a stretch)
